Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About Her Exciting Summer Tour, Headlining WorldPride, and Balancing Family Life Amid a Season of Renewal and Joy

The 2025 AMAs Host Opens Up About Her Upcoming Tour, WorldPride Performance, and Cherishing Family Moments

Jennifer Lopez is gearing up for a summer full of music, celebration, and joy — and she couldn’t be more excited. Ahead of hosting the 2025 American Music Awards on May 26, the superstar singer, actress, and entertainer opened up exclusively to PEOPLE about what’s fueling her enthusiasm and how she plans to embrace a season of freedom and happiness.

At 55, Lopez is ready to return to the stage with her first tour in six years, the Up All Night Live tour, kicking off in Egypt on July 4. “I’m excited to tour. I’m excited first to go do Pride,” she shared, referring to her headlining performance at WorldPride during June’s Pride Month in Washington, D.C. “I’m super excited about that. I’m working on that show right now too as we speak, and crafting the tour as well. I’m excited to get back out there.”

For Lopez, this summer feels like the perfect moment to celebrate both personal freedom and collective joy. “It seems like a perfect summer to celebrate being free and being happy,” she said. “Just everything in my life right now just feels really healthy and good, and I’m ready to get out there and make people sing and dance and have a good time. That’s always my goal.”

In addition to her busy schedule, Lopez is looking forward to spending quality time with her 17-year-old twins, Emme and Max, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony. “I think my kids are going to come to Pride because I’m doing more of a concert [at WorldPride], so I’m excited about that,” she said with pride. “They’re sweet. They’re the best.”

However, Emme and Max won’t be attending the American Music Awards in person this year, as school commitments keep them busy. “They have school, so they can’t come. Sometimes I’ll take them out of school for something special,” Lopez explained.

The AMAs gig holds special meaning for Lopez, marking a decade since she first hosted the event in 2015. This year’s show promises high-energy performances, and Lopez recently experienced a rehearsal mishap that left her with a nose injury requiring stitches. “I hurt my nose. I hit it in rehearsal and I had to get stitches. It was fine,” she laughed. “A few of us have gotten hurt in rehearsals. We’re doing a very high-energy athletic number so it’s, I guess, bound to happen.”

Fans can catch Jennifer Lopez hosting the American Music Awards live from the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on May 26 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS and Paramount+ — a night sure to be filled with star-studded performances and unforgettable moments.

As Lopez embarks on this exciting chapter, she embraces a spirit of joy, freedom, and connection — ready to bring her vibrant energy to stages worldwide and celebrate life’s happiest moments with her fans and family alike.
